AUDITION VIDEO REQUIREMENTS
(Guidelines for your Broadway Artists Alliance video audition)
* While a live audition is always preferred, if a city near you is not currently scheduled on our audition tour, the requirements for a video for acceptance consideration are below.
VOICE MAJORS
- Voice Majors should perform two contrasting 16 - 32 bar musical theater selections (one of the two piece may be a pop-rock selection) that demonstrate vocal range, musicianship, and performance skills. The student should sing with a live accompanist if at all possible, although CD tracks are also acceptable. No a capella singing please.
- If a student wishes to be considered for Voice AND Acting, they may prepare a 16 - 32 bar musical theater selection as well as a 1-minute monologue that demonstrates acting range, characterization, and performance skills.
- If a student wishes to be considered for Voice AND Dance, they may prepare a 16 - 32 bar musical theater selection as well as a short solo dance piece (maximum 3 minutes) that demonstrates technique, flexibility, characterization, and musicality.
- The student may also choose to include a brief personal statement to give us a better sense of their personality and background.
ACTING MAJORS
- Acting Majors should perform two contrasting 1-minute monologues that demonstrate acting range, characterization, and performance skills. No scene work with partners, please.
- We recommend contemporary, age appropriate monologues, and at least one of your selections should be comedic. Monologues may be taken from contemporary plays and/or monologue books.
- If a student wishes to be considered for Acting AND Voice, they may prepare a 1-minute monologue as well as a 16 - 32 bar musical theater selection that demonstrates vocal range, musicianship, and performance skills.
- If a student wishes to be considered for Acting AND Dance, they may prepare a 1-minute monologue as well as a short solo dance piece (maximum 3 minutes) that demonstrates technique, flexibility, characterization, and musicality.
- The student may also choose to include a brief personal statement to give us a better sense of their personality and background.
DANCE MAJORS
- Dance Majors should perform 5 minutes of solo dance material that demonstrates technique, flexibility, characterization, and musicality. The student may present one longer piece, or two or three shorter pieces. No group dance pieces please.
- Dancers should wear form-fitting dance attire and appropriate footwear to allow the Admissions Board to see their movements clearly.
- If a student wishes to be considered for Dance AND Voice, they may perform 5 minutes of dance material and also prepare a 16 - 32 bar musical theater selection that demonstrates vocal range, musicianship, and performance skills.
- If a student wishes to be considered for Dance AND Acting, they may perform 5 minutes of dance material and also prepare a 1-minute monologue that demonstrates acting range, characterization, and performance skills.
- The student may also choose to include a brief personal statement to give us a better sense of their personality and background.

Submissions are not required to be of professional video quality but they must be clear enough for us to undoubtedly recognize the applicant. Please, no group recital or group dance competition videos (solo submissions are acceptable).
Audition videos may be submitted in one of two ways:
1.) PREFERRED METHOD: You may submit your audition video, headshot, and resume online by emailing them to auditions@broadwayartistsalliance.org. Your video clips may be directly attached to the email, or you may post them on a public site like YouTube or Vimeo and submit the link(s). Your headshot should be attached as a JPEG file and your resume may be attached either as a PDF file or a Word Document.
2.) You may send your DVD, headshot and resume to our office:

You will receive notification via email when your materials have been received. You will be notified of your acceptance status via email within two weeks of the date we receive your materials.
